Our Story
The Shrawder family has been in the furniture industry since the 1930's. It all began when my great Francis Shrawder started Shrawder Restorations, a furniture refinishing and repair shop in Audubon, where he restored family heirlooms and cherished pieces for customers. Despite having polio, Francis made up for his disability with his attention to detail and persistence on perfection. Over the years his dedication to the craft earned him a reputation as a local master craftsman, and landed in many jobs for churches, schools, and businesses throughout the area.
After school and during summers as young man, my father Jim Shrawder would spend time working at the shop and soaking in all the lessons there was to learn about furniture restoration.
In 1983, Francis retired, and my mother and father purchased his shop and planned to build it into a full-service, upscale furniture retailer. As time passed they became experts at repairing and refinishing everything from church pews to dining tables to Steinway pianos and in 1993 they opened up their first retail furniture store, Shrawder Furniture located in Phoenixville.
It was there my brother Matt and I grew up and got our start with the company helping out wherever we could as kids. In 2000, my father purchased Sheffield Furniture and merged the two companies together into one, under Sheffield Furniture & Interiors.
Today, Shrawder Restorations is still part of the company serving our customers with the same techniques and high standards set by my great-grandfather and Sheffield continues to honor its over 70 year legacy for quality and the finest furnishings in the Delaware Valley.
