Janice Lachman hails from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She attended the Cranbrook Schools (Brookside and Kingswood), where she studied hand weaving and received a National Scholastic Gold Medal in seventh grade for a hand woven rya rug.
After graduation from Syracuse University with a Bachelor Of Fine Arts degree in Textile Design, Janice was awarded a Fulbright Hays Research Grant to Sri Lanka in the field of textile design. She then pursued a thirteen year career in New York City, working for companies such as Scalamandre,
Ratti Spa. and J P Stevens.
Janice has been a staff designer for Danker and Sheffield Furniture for 18 years.
She is a passionate equestrienne and her leisure time is spent foxhunting and enjoying country life.
