Recently, we hosted Jason Pike from Swarovski Lighting and Schonbek at our Malvern Showroom to teach an ASID Continuing Education Course on Crystal Fundamentals. The presentation was extremely informative and interesting! Jason capped off the morning with step-by-step examples of how mined rock crystal becomes the beautiful shimmering pieces of art we see hanging above our dining room table.

We’re so proud to carry Schonbek Chandeliers featuring Swarovski Crystals in all three of our showrooms. Did you know that these works of art have taken center stage in multiple blockbuster movies? Keep reading for details on some of our personal favorites!

The Swarovski chandelier featured in the 2004 movie adaptation of Phantom of the Opera weighed in at 2.2 tons and measured at 17 feet high and 13 feet wide. It was covered with more than 20,000 Swarovski crystals, hung by hand.

Six Swarovski Trilliane chandeliers from the Schonbek collection were used in the 2010 movie Black Swan. Each chandelier was 4 feet wide and 6 feet tall.

For the 2013 movie The Great Gatsby, Schonbek created five Roman Empire chandeliers and four wall sconces to adorn Gatsby’s mansion. It took artisians over 200 hours to complete all nine pieces.
