Stickley Excellence Only At Sheffield Furniture

Recently, Sheffield Furniture & Interior owners Jim and Liz Shrawder joined other elite Stickley Furniture dealers in attending Stickley’s Annual Dealer Weekend in Manlius, New York. The weekend gives dealers the opportunity to socialize, compare best practices in marketing and sales and get a behind the scenes peek into what Stickley is planning for the future.

One of the highlights of the weekend is the award ceremony where awards are granted to the best dealers for performance over the past year. We’re happy to report that Sheffield Furniture took home five awards, including the coveted “Largest Stickley Dealer”. Our other awards were for “Excellence in Direct Mail Advertising” and “30% Increase in Upholstery and Leather,” as well as the Silver award for volume in upholstery and leather and the Diamond award for being the largest Stickley upholstery and leather dealer in the country.

We’re looking forward to another wonderful year ahead with Stickley Furniture!

2013 Devon Horse Show

Celebrating over 115 years of history, the Devon Horse Show is the largest and most well-known outdoor multi-breed horse show held in the country.  The show has earned international recognition and attracts the best horses and riders from around the world to compete in this prestigious ten day event.

Sheffield Furniture & Interiors was honored to be a sponsor of the Carriage Competition at this year’s Devon Horse Show, benefitting Bryn Mawr Hospital.  Company owners Jim and Liz Shrawder were excited to present awards for the Carriage Pleasure Championship Drive Off and spend the day on the Devon Horse Show Grounds! Liz is the proud owner of four Draft Cross horses and loves taking them on pleasure drives.  As a child, she took riding lessons and showed horses.  Liz said that her day at the Devon Horse Show was the highlight of her year!

The Devon Horse Show runs through June 2nd so there is still time to experience this wonderful event and take in the sights.

Curtain Call

Our very own window treatment specialist, Heather Rabold, was featured for the second time in the International Window Fashion Vision magazine.

Last spring we were selected as the first-place winner in two categories of the Envision Design and Workroom Ingenuity Awards at the VISION12: International Window Coverings EXPO™. Our window treatments were judged by experienced industry professionals and deemed extraordinary for their attention to clients’ needs, creativity, design excellence, and construction perfection.

Window treatments can make or break a room design. Done correctly they add a warmth and help pull the room design together. Our window treatment specialists know all the tricks of the trade to design the perfect window treatments for your room – something you can not achieve with off-the-shelf curtains.

Below are some samples of our recent work. If you are in need of beautiful new window treatments, call our showroom today to schedule a consultation.

Oscar-worthy Furnishings

If you watched the recent Oscars® or read the ensuing fashion reviews, you’ve seen the latest looks in glamour, glitz and gowns. The colors, the fabrics, the hairstyles, the jewels…the world’s most beautiful and talented came out to be recognized and did not disappoint. But did you know that Hollywood’s biggest night featured stars of home furnishings as well?

That’s right, Baker Furniture—one of our own favorite furniture lines—received the equivalent of an Oscar nod by being featured in the exclusive Architectural Digest Greenroom at the Oscars. Los Angeles-based interior designer Madeline Stuart selected Baker Furniture once again to help her achieve her vision for this backstage space.

Nestled in Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, the Greenroom is the go-to spot for celebrity interviews, presenter pre-stage prep and refreshments. Baker was chosen to furnish the luxurious suite which was inspired by the legendary art director and production designer, Cedric Gibbons. A Hollywood legend, Mr. Gibbons won eleven Academy Awards for art direction and is credited with designing the Oscar statuette. For a behind-the-scenes look at this room being built, watch this time-lapse video here.

So what makes Baker Oscar-worthy? To start, the brand represents the epitome of fine design, materials and craftsmanship. Baker builds furniture from more periods, styles, and international influences than any other furniture maker—with careful attention paid to scale, proportion and ornamental detail. From exquisite reproductions to original creations from celebrated designers, each piece is uniquely Baker.

This is a brand whose looks fit perfectly in today’s homes. After all, Baker’s vision is to create furnishings thought tempting today and timeless tomorrow. So, this year, we think a home furnishings Oscar should go to Baker for Best Representation of Timeless Elegance.

Sheffield Furniture & Interiors

Thomas Pheasant by Baker Furniture

In today’s world of copies and knock-offs, it’s rare to find a furniture collection with a unique point of view. That’s why we adore the Thomas Pheasant collection from Baker Furniture. It’s modern, elegant and distinctive. You can spot his signature style from across the room—and you’ll be drawn to it.

Thomas Pheasant is an award-winning interior designer based in Washington, DC. His signature style is modern elegance and he creates furnishings and interiors that evoke a feeling of calm, luxurious comfort.

What’s interesting about Pheasant is how he selects and interprets classic design motifs in his work. An excellent example is his Arcade table, with curves clearly inspired by architectural arches. “Inspiration is not imitation, it is taking something you have experienced and allowing it to filter through your own unique sensibility,” says Pheasant.

For his latest collection for Baker, Pheasant combines simplicity, bold silhouettes and clean finishes. His inspiration draws from influences around the world and he creates modern pieces that, when looked at closely, reveal classical roots.

These are furnishings that appeal to people who know their own style. There’s nothing exaggerated, frilly or fancy about these pieces. They are bold, sophisticated and highly edited. Pheasant says it best himself: “I find the most satisfaction in elegance through simplicity…It is through editing that I achieve the greatest impact.”

We Won!

The amazing custom window treatments created by Sheffield Furniture are more than just stunning—they’re the best in the world, according to Window Fashion Vision magazine. Selected as the first-place winner in two categories of the Envision Design and Workroom Ingenuity Awards, Sheffield Furniture was recently recognized at the VISION12: International Window Coverings EXPO™. Its window treatments were judged by experienced industry professionals and deemed extraordinary for their attention to clients’ needs, creativity, design excellence, and construction perfection.

The talented staff of Sheffield’s workroom (Edgardo Borges, Diane Shea, Heather Rabold and Susan Watson) worked together to create one-of-a-kind solutions for challenging windows. The award in the Curtains & Draperies category recognizes the custom treatment they created that unifies a grand, two-story room by uniting its upper and lower windows. It features an elegant design using black-and-gold scrolled fabric banded in gold silk that is draped on a roped rod and accented with cord and tassels.

In the Combination Treatments category, Sheffield’s workroom won another first-place award—this time for incorporating fabric with a hard treatment. The design completes the Mission style of the owner’s home and respects the sweeping views of the valley seen through the family room windows. The solution features two layers: woven bamboo blinds beneath pleated fabric panels attached to a metal rod with rings. The winning look provides just the right amount of pattern, color and texture, while still allowing light control.

Call or email Heather Rabold today for a free 30 minute consultation 610-644-7450 or hrabold@sheffieldfurniture.com.
