Mahal - Aquamarine is a hand-knotted wool Indian carpet. This traditional Persian design takes its roots from a time when Mughal emperors ruled India. Starting with Babur’s invasion in 1526 and ending with the death of Muhamed Shah in 1748, this period is viewed as a renaissance of Indian art and literature. This pattern features intertwining leaves and tendrils against a cream field. Mahal-Aquamarine is handknotted by master weavers using handspun, high-twist Ghazni wool. This special wool has the ability to brilliantly enhance dyes resulting in rich, radiant, and fluid colors. Hand-knotted with a traditional Persian knot at about 120 hand-tied knots per square inch, this rug will last many lifetimes.
